Revelation comes when you're not looking.
Case in point, hour one of outbreak
(the hour I knew of anyway)
My first thought was that I wish my ex was here.
So we could both see the shuffling masses
and I could say run, and she could move forward.
Then I could prove once and for all that
she never fucking listened to me.
Then I realized their shuffle wasn't a shuffle
but a slither, and a bad one,
like a boa on an icy moguled slope.
Their speed was worse than mummy.
To maneuver meant keeping your eyes open.
Zombies in December. No wonder
it never happened in movies.
And that was my revelation.
Unlike movies. Real life crises
don't allow you to be petty.
Also, she would have been right.
Because of course she would have gone towards them.
